Welcome to 'Nightwish Song/Lyrics Discussion' where we, well. Discuss songs and lyrics! Here you can express your love/hate towards a particular song, talk about lyrics and its meanings, etc. I created this series mainly because of the lyrics though.Nightwish's lyrics are often hard to understand, so I wanted to create a single place, where we can gather everyone's opinions and learn together. I'll be choosing semi-randomly a song every 2-4 days.So let's move on to. #01 – 'Ghost Love Score'.
YouTube Link:. Released: album Once (June 7th 2004). Length: 10:02. Knockout Game: Winner'I'm a big fan of old prog rock and this is a song that has a lot of different parts going on, and different atmospheres in different places in order to support the story. My biggest influence from the prog world would be Jethro Tull, but I also love listening to Yes and Genesis and all those bands, and there's a correlation between the structures and the length of a lot of their songs and this one.' — Marco Hietala LyricsLink: Previous Threads(Dust.). That's always been my favorite. And as for the meaning behind it.
I used to think it meant 'If only I could go back to my childhood and do better.' (In the past I've wished for that a lot.)But recently I realized that maybe instead it means something like 'With you, I can finally expose my true self, unlike in my childhood.' (That's how I feel with my partner - someone I can actually open myself up to, someone who makes my lonely childhood worth it because it made me who I am today.)I'd love to hear how everyone else interprets this fine bit of music!. This line is the one that gives me goosebumps too, and my interpretation is similar to yours but goes in the other direction: “With you, I can finally let down all the pretenses of adulthood and be like a child again, carefree and secure and my true self.”I’ve always loved Ghost Love Score. The DVD audio version in 5.1 is my go-to demo track for when I show off the home theater, and the Wacken version with Floor that’s making the rounds on the YouTube reaction circuit is phenomenal. I always get chills right after she sings that high amazing flourish at the end and then the camera cuts back to her a couple seconds later as she smiles because she knows she brought the house down. I always think, man it’s got to be fun to be that good.
