It’s not bad. More of a modern take on a Junior.
I’m really curious what the routes look like under that pickguard, and what that slim that neck and low frets feel like. The P90 appears to be mounted to the pickguard?Gibson is in a weird transition period right now. I have to believe there are some operational changes happening on the shop level. I really love my 2018 singlecut Junior and aside from the fretboard being a little rough (easy fix), it’s really well built and plays great. If these doublecuts play as well as my Junior, but can be sold at a much better price point because of the satin finish, they’re a damn good deal for a USA made Gibson. It’s not bad. After seeing photos of the route I think this is a pretty good deal although I'd much prefer a vintage correct version. The routing is minimalist in nature leaving a nice solid piece. I'd prefer a gloss finish andvintage construction but it wouldn't be sold for $799 which I think puts this solidly in line to compete theFender Player Series ( the new Mexican Standards ) within $100 in retail price. I don't think this one is for me though. I just got a 2018 Junior and at this point I'd pay the $1400 for a 'proper' cherry doublecut with a hard case if they ever decided to build one ( think 2010 model ).
